The review chair, professor Raine Koskimaa, handed in Friday the Best Paper Award to Simo Järvelä who accepted the prize for paper “Digital Games as Experiment Stimulus”, co-authored by Simo Järvelä, Inger Ekman, J. Matias Kivikangas, and Niklas Ravaja. The conference committee commended the paper for interdisciplinary scholarship that combines solid understanding of games and game studies with the challenging field of psycho-physiological research.
DiGRA Nordic 2012 felt like a success: interesting papers, keynotes and panels, great discussions. All the arrangements were running smoothly. We want to express our thanks to DiGRA, Academy of Finland (Creation of Game Cultures project), TSV, and all reviewers, organisers and volunteers who made the conference possible. You can find a backlog of discussion and some photos by checking the #ndigra12 hashtag history in Twitter, and the Facebook event page for the conference. – See you all in the next DiGRA event!
Full conference program has now been published and can be found on the Program page. Note that the program is still preliminary and thus changes are possible.
The outline for conference timetables is now published in the Program page. The full program will be published later when all speakers and sessions have been confirmed, but you can use the outline already to plan your travel timetables.
The review and meta-review process of DiGRA Nordic 2012 was completed according to schedule in Monday, 2 April, and the authors have now been posted both their review statements and the review decision letter (these should arrive as two separate emails, so if you have submitted to the conference, but are missing either one, please contact the review chair, professor Raine Koskimaa, <raine.koskimaa (at) jyu.fi>). Note: the deadline for final versions is 7 May, 2012.
There were total of 46 interesting submissions on wide range of topics (42 papers, 4 panels and alternative forms) coming from all around the world. 24 papers were accepted, giving the acceptance ratio at 57 %. From DiGRA Nordic 2010 with its 13 accepted papers, there has been substantial growth, and the organisers want to thank both everyone who has submitted, as well as hard-working reviewers for their contributions.
Please remember that all authors need to be registered to the conference by 23 April, so that their papers will be included in the program and the proceedings. (See: https://digra-nordic2012.org/registration/ )
The deadline for conference submissions was passed in Tuesday, February 21st – we thank everyone for really nice interest to the conference and now close the system from new submissions. We will inform all authors about the results of the review by April 2nd. Please note that the conference registration is already open. There are also some special hotel discounts available in the venue, travel and accommodation page.
Due to several requests, the conference committee has decided to extend the submission deadline until 21 February, 2012. The submission is open for full papers, panels and alternative forms (e.g. workshop or roundtable proposals). More: https://digra-nordic2012.org/submission/
